Hello World
Hi, I’m Scott Duberstein and you’re currently reading my thoughts in the past. Don’t touch anything, you might break the space time continuum. While you’re here, let’s talk about what this blog and website are about to me.

As a kid I would spend hours in front of LEGO & Steven Spielberg MovieMaker Set. For those who don’t know what makes this set so special, the lego set included a small camera you could use to make stop motion lego videos.
“The camera actually had a maximum resolution of 640x480 internally, it captured in 320x240, and rendering with the Studios software outputted the films in just 160x120. ” Brick Films Fandom Wiki
As a kid this meant everything to me. I could force my family to watch my poorly done stop motion films with bad voice overs for hours and get pure joy out of it. I owe it to my parents and 5 siblings for sharing the home computer in the early 2000’s with me.
I want to talk about why this particular lego set means so much to me. For starters, this was my first introduction into film-making. This set blends what I love to work on today as an adult. Take a piece of hardware that does X feature and make software that produces Y result. That early 2000’s web-camera is eclipsed by all of today’s phone camera.
What makes this so unique for its time was the fact that this serial connection was my first introduction to hardware and software communicating with one another to write image data to editing software. It blends both my passions, film production and programming.
This is why first impressions matter. Inspect the element on the page. Figure out how and why the little bits and bytes communicate the way they do so you can build meaningful applications too.
This blog to me is about explaining that connection. Whether it be software and hardware, person to person, or video to audience… I want this space to be where you, dear reader/time traveler, come to hangout and exchange information with me.
